Happy Birthday 'Thalaiva'

Happy Birthday 'Thalaiva': Rajinikanth's mannerisms inspired by Shatrughan Sinha

En vazni, thani vazni, seendaathe!
(My path is diverse; do not dare to come in between!)

This dialogue of Rajinikanth, from the Tamil movie PADAYAPPA suits to define the Sensational Southern Superstar to a perfect 'T'. While actors of his age have faded away Rajinikanth continues to hold sway over the hearts of millions his fans around the globe. On December 12, the legend marks his 63rd birthday and Glamsham.Com wishes him and prays for a long life.

RAJINIKANTH

RAJINIKANTH

Identified for his power packed punch lines and swashbuckling action in his irresistible signature style, cine-goers go fanatical and the cinema house is brought down with echoes of claps and whistles. A rare feat that was once enjoyed by Bollywood star Shatrughan Sinha in the early 70's.

In fact the younger generation may not know but the fact is Rajinikanth considers Shatrughan his style guru and aped his mannerism when he made his debut down South. In an interview Rajinikanth frankly admitted, ''I consider Shatrughan Sinhaji as my teacher because when I was young I was highly motivated by Shatruji's screen charisma.''

In fact Rajinikanth used to repeatedly watch Shatrughan Sinha's movies to grab the nuance of Shatrughan Singha's mannerisms and gestures. Among the movies he has seen umpteen times include RAMPUR KA LAKSHMAN, MERE APNE, DOST etc.

Interestingly when Rajinikanth became a star in Bollywood after the success of ANDHA KANOON, he was flooded with offers; one among them was director Sudharshan Nag's movie ASLI NAQLI. It was a kind of a casting coup because Sudharshan Nag had brought the original Shatrughan Singha and his copy version Rajinikanth together and aptly titled the movie as ASLI NAQLI.

Though the movie made headlines in media during its pre-release as the two actors were clashing for the first time but somehow the movie failed to click at the box office. This is the only film to feature the two actors till date.
