Hasee Toh Phasee box office collection: Parineeti Chopra and Sidharth Malhotra’s film rakes in Rs 18.5 crore in its opening weekend

Despite having a not-so-great opening on its first day, Karan Johar’s latest offering managed to do well on the weekend

Hasee Toh Phasee starring Parineeti Chopra and Sidharth Malhotra hit the screens last Friday. Though the romantic comedy directed by Vinil Mathew opened to a lukewarm response, the film picked up during the weekend. As per the media reports, Hasee Toh Phasee has collected approximately Rs 18.5 crore in its first weekend which isn’t bad at all. Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, “Hasee Toh Phasee Fri 4.90 cr, Sat 6.30 cr, Sun 7.30 cr. Total: Rs18.5 cr nett. India biz only.” Since Pari and Sid starrer is not a big budgeted film, the makers are expected to recover the cost easily.
According to Boxofficeindia, “The trend was pretty good over the weekend as Hasee Toh Phasee grew around 35 percent on Saturday and a further 20 percent on Sunday. The business was much below Shuddh Desi Romance which was a hit film released last year with a similar cast and budget. The film had grossed Rs 23 crore nett over its first weekend. Hasee Toh Phasee should remain steady over the weekdays but with the film just collecting in the metros it will curtail its business on the final tally.”
While HTP has a done a decent job at the ticket windows, wethinks the film may find it hard to sustain in the coming days as Priyanka Chopra, Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor starrer Gunday is set to release this week.
But so far the makers of Hasee Toh Phasee are happy with their film’s box office collection. In fact, Karan and Parineeti took to Twitter to thank their fans for embracing their new film.
